When Things Burn (Updated)

Last week it was tornados everywhere. This week California is on fire. Well now, what do you expect when the governor bans "mom" and "dad", and signs your children over to be taught that homosexuality is normal? What do you expect, Hollywood, when you keep pumping out garbage that is offensive to a Holy God? What do you expect, America, when your leaders try to help divide up Israel, the only real estate on earth that God says is His? Or when your president says that all gods are the same, and even honors a Buddhist monk with a medal and calls him a great spiritual leader.

All in the same week...

So this wee fire is a surprise? I am surprised it's not worse!

And so now, the governor (who just last week opened girl's washrooms to boys and boy's washrooms to girls, should they so choose), is asking for help, and the president has declared the fire an emergency, saying, "We extend our prayers and thoughts to them." Which is very nice, it really is, but now we all are wondering just who is being prayed to, since he just said last week that we all pray to the same God. So is it Allah? Buddha? We want to know.

Read this Commentary from Koenig's News.

Lest I sound judgemental from up here in the Great White North, watching things burn way down there, the even more amazing thing about this is that God, in His grace and mercy and forbearance, is allowing any of us to live under his protection. We are only safe under the shadow of His wings.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe. Prov. 18:10

Sounds a little like the sermon 'Sinners in the hands of and Angry God' by Jonathan Edwards.

Have you ever read that Carla... it is brilliant.

Psalm 72:18. "Surely thou didst set them in slippery places; thou castedst them down into destruction."

It implies, that they were always exposed to sudden unexpected destruction. As he that walks in slippery places is every moment liable to fall, he cannot foresee one moment whether he shall stand or fall the next; and when he does fall, he falls at once without warning: Which is also expressed in Psalm 73:18,19. "Surely thou didst set them in slippery places; thou castedst them down into destruction: How are they brought into desolation as in a moment!"

Their foot shall slide in due time. Deuteronomy 32:35

That the reason why they are not fallen already and do not fall now is only that God's appointed time is not come. For it is said, that when that due time, or appointed time comes, their foot shall slide. Then they shall be left to fall, as they are inclined by their own weight. God will not hold them up in these slippery places any longer, but will let them go; and then, at that very instant, they shall fall into destruction; as he that stands on such slippery declining ground, on the edge of a pit, he cannot stand alone, when he is let go he immediately falls and is lost.

Surprised we should not be!

Hi Vee,

I have just read part of the Jonathan Edwards sermon. Thanks for the link. I will read the rest later.
