Checking things out about Hagee and his book

Someone was telling me a few days ago about a wonderful book by John Hagee called In Defense of Israel. Okay, that sounds good, I thought. All I knew about John Hagee was that he is big a supporter of Israel, and I saw him preach a few times back in the days when we had Satellite TV. I always thought he was okay. Later on that afternoon my opinion got totally flipped… another lesson to watch out and be a Berean. It was a few things I just happened to read and see that changed my mind, which I will post here:

It started with this short thing I read about Jesus not drinking the last cup of the Passover:

John Hagee says Jesus isn’t the Messiah

At first I thought...well, maybe that’s taken out of context. After all, there ARE four cups to the Passover Seder, and Jesus DID say he would not drink of the last one til he returns. And besides, I've heard Hagee before and he seemed okay...

But apparently, there’s more to John Hagee’s teaching than that... he teaches the Dual Covenant theory. When I asked my wonderful smart friend about this she sent these:

And then there’s this youtube video of Hagee on Kenneth Copeland’s program!

Well, that did it for me. Copeland is a heretic and that’s where I draw the line.

So as you can see, my opinion was flipped. You just have to be so careful these days! Now I guess I have to explain this to my acquaintance who had such wonderful things to say about Hagee’s book.

By the way, I also found an interesting critique of Hagee's book here:

Once again, another good reminder to be like this...

"Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so." Acts 17:11

Wow, that really shows to go ya! :)

It proves once again that even prominent, high-profile Christian leaders can be absolutely right on most Biblical doctrine, but dead-wrong on other parts.
