“The Message was a byproduct of anger”Isn't that just great...that through his anger and frustration, Mr. Peterson was able to put the life back into God's Word so we wouldn't be bored when we read it? (Note: In order to put the life back into something, that means first it must be kind of - dead.) Wow. What an accomplishment.
...AND...
He (Eugene Peterson) put the life back into the ancient text, words originally spoken and penned in the language of the working class.
-How The Message Began

~All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness~ 2 Timothy 3:16
~For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.~ Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)

Thank you Steve. As these things continue to astound me, I am almost more surprised that so many Christians are oblivious to them.
Well, the old saying is true, "ignorance is bliss," and the other saying fits also, "Don't confuse me with the facts."
While the Lord takes me deeper and deeper into my own storehouse of ignorance and supposed "bliss" it seems others have chosen a different path, a path of darkness, away from the revelations of the Spirit.
The revelations of faithful Christian bloggers is also a great help against the flesh and the deceitfulness of sin.
Thanks

Arrrgghhh... the message is one of the worse translations in the world.
IMHO, I think that Eugene has added and taken away the Word of God!
Kind of like how your blog is a product of anger and frustration.
Well, well. Nice to see you still reading my blog, "anonymous."
And Happy Canada Day to you! Hope you are having a lovely holiday.
