"Spiritual Formation is Dangerous.... And Here's Why"

As a former New Ager, I have become increasingly alarmed at the New Age/New Spirituality practices and beliefs that I have seen flowing into the church. I was saved in a conservative, evangelical church that boldly proclaimed the gospel: Jesus is THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life, and no-one comes to the Father but by Him. Yet, within 2 years time, this same precious church began to preach sermons on past mystics (St. John of the Cross), began offering yoga classes, and began to adopt practices that eerily reminded me of my New Age days... all of which are an assault on the true gospel...

Hey Carla,

I'm so glad you blogged about this new book. I finished reading it a few weeks ago. When the book first arrived, I couldn't put it down. It was SUCH an eye-opener! In fact, I thought the message was so important that I ordered a whole box of these books and have been giving them away to everybody I know.

The story is really, really good. The author did a brilliant job of interweaving the true experiences of a real historical figure (an ancient Catholic mystic) throughout this fictional, modern-day story.

Honestly, at first I could hardly believe some of things I was reading, so I did my own research. I was amazed to discover that many Catholic websites substantiated the bizarre and scary things that happened to this Catholic mystic as she sincerely sought to commune with God. But sadly, by refusing to worship God in a Biblical way, she naively thought she could approach God in a way that "seemed right to man..." (but the end thereof is the way of death.)

What is sobering to realize, is that so many Christian colleges (and Church youth groups) today are promoting exactly the same type of unBiblical practices that plunged this Catholic mystic directly into the demonic realm, centuries ago.

Historical records reveal that alarm bells went off in the minds of some people in the 16th century as they questioned the source of the freaky manifestations occuring in this mystic's life. Sadly, few such alarm bells are ringing in the minds of people today.

Castles In The Sand reveals the fact that attractive packaging conceals hideous dangers in this unBiblical form of contemplative meditation and prayer. And many, many people are naively following the sweet music of the Pied Piper of Peril.

Personally, I don't think it's a co-incidence that the whole world is moving toward a mystical spirituality at this time, and is seeking "union with God." The crafty serpant has been busy -- and his hiss can even be heard in the corridors of Christian schools and Churches.

This book is very unique. I'm not aware of any other book available today, that exposes "Christian mysticism" in this manner. I am grateful to have this important, valuable resource available to me, and to be able to place it into the hands of people I love.
