If you're overcome by a false prophet you are brought into bondage by themAnd a few more things...
...knowledge is responsibility...God holds you responsible for what you know
...to know the truth and then to turn away from the truth puts you under a great jeopardy because now you are responsible...
-Chuck Smith (2 Peter -part 7) @ www.youtube.com
False prophets have always been around, now they don't wear signs "I'm a false prophet." They come in sheeps clothing, they look like sheep, they come sometimes dripping with love, and phrases of love, and alot of times you listen to them and say, boy, they're good, they speak a lot of truth, and that's why they're able to deceive. If a false prophet only said false things no one would be deceived by them, but usually what they say is 95 percent true, and thus they entice people and deceive people, because most of what they say is true, but then they begin to interject that area of falsehood....You can listen to the entire series (2 Peter Part 1-9 by Chuck Smith) on youtube (here).

This is a good series for the times we are in because without even naming names, Chuck Smith's preaching of the pure Word of God slices and dices everything that is going on today regarding the concepts entering the church.
Meanwhile, as we see mainstream deception and the watering down of the gospel, and authors of books and things emerging like a flood under interfaith bridges of common purpose and ecumenism (aka compromise), as the Bible is replaced with the social gospel, all in the name of peace and unity, let's pray for our pastors and teachers and shepherds, that they will not be overtaken by those who look like sheep, that they might remain faithful to the end, and hold fast to the pure truth in God's Word and the simplicity of the gospel.
