Amer. Library Assn. 'trumps up' book-banning
A prominent pro-family group says "Banned Books Week," going on now, is intended to intimidate parents.
The week-long observance is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), which says the purpose is to protest censorship and celebrate open access to viewpoints that not everyone agrees with. "Intellectual freedom -- the freedom to access information and express ideas, even if the information and ideas might be considered unorthodox or unpopular -- provides the foundation for Banned Books Week," says the ALA website....
