God did not Create the World, says Wolde

So there's this respected Bible scholar named Wolde who says God didn't actually make the world...

Professor Ellen van Wolde, a respected Old Testament scholar and author, claims the first sentence of Genesis "in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth" is not a true translation of the Hebrew.

She claims she has carried out fresh textual analysis that suggests the writers of the great book never intended to suggest that God created the world -- and in fact the Earth was already there when he created humans and animals.

She said she eventually concluded the Hebrew verb "bara", which is used in the first sentence of the book of Genesis, does not mean "to create" but to "spatially separate".

She said: "It meant to say that God did create humans and animals, but not the Earth itself."

Wait a minute there, Professor Wolde - sounds like the whole rest of the Bible tells us who created the world. I think you are making mole hills out of mountains. Here are just a few verses for starters...

Exodus 20:11

Hmmm. Looks to me like throughout pretty much the whole Bible the underlying theme is that God created the world. Everyone who says it isn't so will one day worship the One who said it is so. Why not just agree with Him now and save yourself a lifetime of futile arguing?
