Selling Sorcery to Kids

Along the same lines as yesterday's post (Widz Kidz), how about this...

Thanks to ToysRus, there are now toys of divination available for 8 year old children.

And if you think that's a bad thing, nothing quite tops this in the occult indoctrination of our children...

Parent Alert: Harry Potter Theme Park Soon to Open in Florida

I tried going onto the theme park site to take a look but was creeped out and had to leave it alone.

If that's not bad enough, I was in Chapters last week and noticed that all the best selling teen and pre-teen fiction had something to do with witchcraft or vampires. Any Christian who is not bothered by this stuff has had their senses dulled and they are not spending time in the Word of God.

~solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. ~ Hebrews 5:14

There is only one thing we can do about all this, and that is - pray for our children!

Certainly some of the teen reading material merits your criticism. However, the Harry Potter series centers on love, loyalty to friends, and doing the right thing in the face of horrendous evil even if it will cost you your life. I think Christians can relate to that. The wizardry is merely a narrative device which makes the stakes clear. I think it is quite possible to read that, fairy tales, and Greek myths without getting pulled away from Biblical teaching and values.
