Five Things to help you Meditate like Monks, from Willow Creek

For all those who balk at the pesky warnings from discernment ministries that mainstream evangelical protestant church leadership in general has left biblical discernment and is turning to Roman Catholic contemplative mysticism, here's a prime example for proof; The Daily Office, brought to you by leadership idolizer Bill Hybels and Willow Creek (June 10):
5 things to include in the Daily Office to help you get started:

1. Silence, Stillness, and Centering

2. Scripture

3. Devotional Reading

4. Pondering a Question

5. Prayer

Also, Pete's Emotionally Healthy Spirituality website provides free Daily Office downloads (http://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/resources/dailyoffices.asp)

This same piece on the Willow Creek blog also refers to something called Defining Moments with Bill Hybels and Peter Scazzero who have joined together to encourage church leaders and their leadership teams to adopt the "Rule of Life" and start a *Daily Office habit, like the monks. {Note: Another very famous American pastor recently promoted the same thing (Scazzero and the Daily Office, see here and here).}

~sigh~ when will they stop this monkey business...
